As if Woodbury Common wasn’t already the go-to shopping destination in the Hudson Valley, this year the behemoth retail center will give locals and visitors even more of a reason to plan a spree in Central Valley.
After just wrapping up Phase 4 of its long-term renovation plan in 2017, the premium outlet center prepares to one-up itself yet again. In 2019, the space will welcome five new retailers, beginning with Forever 21 in January. To follow, new retail storefronts include Golden Goose Deluxe Brand, a high-fashion sneaker line; Sugarfina, a gourmet candy company; Burt’s Bees, an eco-friendly beauty brand; and Eton, a men’s fashion retailer.
Throughout the year, four existing stores (Hugo BOSS, Express, Mulberry, and Michael Kors) will relocate to new spaces within the complex as well.
Of course, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The real excitement comes in the form of the proposed Phase 5 of development. The new plan, which was submitted to the Woodbury Planning Board in December, includes a number of significant renovations and additions to the property.
If all goes well, the center will add 185,000 square feet of retail space, along with two hotels, a spa, new restaurants, a helipad, and a second five-story parking garage. Planned updates will begin in 2020, with an estimated completion date in 2023. Once finished, the Common will exceed one million square feet in total space.
With these new additions, Woodbury will become even more of a destination experience with eat-stay-play opportunities similar to the ones at Resorts World Catskills in Monticello. With this in mind, the center also has plans to expand its original parking garage, which currently has four tiers.
As anyone who’s ever been to Woodbury can attest, additional parking opportunities are much appreciated, especially on days like Black Friday, when it’s nearly impossible to snag a spot – or get off the exit, for that matter. Maybe a helicopter ride in will work instead?
