Gem Mercantile
5399 Main Street
Dave Liatti, owner of restaurants The Windham Local and Taphouse Grille, introduced his latest endeavor in January: a storefront that hosts a collection of clothing for mountain living alongside crafts and wares created by local artisans. Gem Mercantile curates a selection of handmade accessories (Orion Jewelry in East Jewett), bath and body products (Stinging Nettle Botanics, Catskill), chocolate (Shokan’s Fruition), and more, including the new, community-inspired Catskill-opoly board game created by Catskill Crew. The shop continues to add more gifts and products from HV makers; see what’s in stock Friday–Sunday.

Clutch and Throttle Cookies
5383 Main Street
Behind a bright red door you’ll find decadent milkshakes, cookies and pastries, and artisan coffee drinks served in a fun, motorcycle-themed space. Stephanie and Todd Grubbs named the venture after their pit bull Clutch, who is pictured riding a bike on the company’s logo. Open since ski season, customers can stop by Thursday–Sunday for cookies such as snickerdoodle, salted chocolate caramel, and vegan chocolate chip, or indulge in over-the-top shakes like the Oreo overload and bananas Foster.

Mountain King Brewing Company
5351 Main Street
Opening its doors the day after Thanksgiving, Mountain King Brewing Company is located in a converted house off of the Batavia Kill River that flows alongside Windham. Named for a bear that lives behind owners Bob and Sarah McLynn’s home on Cave Mountain (who their daughters have lovingly called “The Mountain King”), the business was born out of Bob and head brewer Owen Hartman’s love for European-style beer and brewing culture. Stop by the tasting room Thursday–Sunday to sip on Mountain King’s three flagship brews: Blonde (lager), Windham Ale (amber ale), and Magic Bear (IPA).
