Presidents’ Weekend Holiday Camp

Children ages four to 12 can explore the holiday weekend skiing on the slopes and learning from trained coaches. Cost for the camp includes lunch, supervision, and lift tickets. Registration is required for the two-day experience.

Sean “The Prankster” Magician will perform a free matinee show at 2 p.m. on Presidents’ Day, and The Mental Madness Show featuring Garrett Thomas and Kozmo will be held on Saturday, February 16 at 7:30 p.m.

The 1936 film “The President’s Mystery,” written by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, will begin at 1 p.m. in the Henry A. Wallace Center. Guests can then visit the archives of the American presidential autographs. The display will be open from 2-4 p.m. in the research room in the library building. Registration is required for the film screening.

Learn how to walk in snowshoes on Saturday morning at Minnewaska State Park Preserve. Thruway Sporting Goods, MSR, and Tubbs employees will teach beginners the basic moves and techniques, and a three-mile hike with a park ranger will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The park entry is $10, and the event is free to the public.

Sing “Happy Birthday” to the first president of the United States at Washington’s Headquarters Historic Site in Newburgh. Musical performances, reenactments, military demonstrations, and crafts will be available during the weekend for families as well.

Explore the geography and history of known sites in the Hudson Valley with experienced outdoorsmen Andy Mills and Fred Isseks. Kayaking is a key factor of the event, and there will be a lecture about Washington’s Newburgh Headquarters, Gomez Mill House, Cold Spring Foundry, and more. Registration is recommended.
Winter Fest at Crystal Lake

The second annual Winter Fest partners with the community to host a ton of activities for the family. Look forward to snowflake art installations, kids’ crafts, guided treks, and snowshoeing. Gather around the campfire and indulge in treats and baked goods. Parking is limited, and a free shuttle will drop attendees off every 10 minutes.
