Wequassett Resort & Golf Club

Cape Cod, Massachusetts

As amazing of a weekend destination as Cape Cod is, you might not get to see too much of it during a stay at the Wequassett. While its mid-cape location makes it an ideal home base from which you can travel to P-Town or Hyannis Port in well under an hour, you will most likely want to savor every moment on the premises.

Wequassett’s palatial accommodations (and contemporary, after a $5 million renovation in 2014) span 120 rooms and suites in 20 waterside cottages dotted along Round Cove and Pleasant Bay, all within a leisurely walk to the property’s myriad amenities—including two swimming pools and a Jacuzzi, two beaches, boat rentals (and boating lessons), lush gardens, four Har-Tru tennis courts, a fitness center, a childrens’ activity center, and an 18-hole championship golf course.

Signature Collection suites feature spacious sitting rooms with minibars, gas fireplaces, and panoramic views; king beds; marble baths; and private terraces with fire pits. The sheer grandeur of the accommodations and property amenities is nicely complemented by the pleasant, polished, and unobtrusive demeanor of Wequassett’s staff. This winning combination delivers unbridled luxury to resort guests, but with an appropriately relaxed Cape vibe—making the Wequassett a very popular venue for weddings and other private functions.

Explore: When you are ready to venture off-premises, neighboring Chatham should be your first stop. One of the jewels of the Cape (located right on its “elbow”), this charming, stylish town offers visitors the quintessential Cape Cod experience—from its dining and shopping options to its pristine beaches.

Dine: Wequassett offers several on-property dining options, including 24-hour room service. Billed as Cape Cod’s only four-star, four-diamond restaurant, Twenty-Eight Atlantic serves New American with an emphasis on seafood. Its nautically inspired dining room offers panoramic water views. For more casual dining, the adjacent Thoreau’s presents diners with a cozy pub atmosphere. Alfresco dining can be had at the Outer Bar & Grille, on its expansive deck. The Grille’s menu is also available at Libaytion, the property’s beachfront bar, and at Pleasant Bay Terrace, another waterside bar that also offers nightly live entertainment.

Insider Tip: For a nearby delight of the senses, visit the Cape Cod Lavender Farm, also located in Harwich (www.capecodlavenderfarm.com).

Distance from Poughkeepsie: Four-and-a-half hours by car. Rates: In-season rates start at $585/night
