New York, like so many states, has untapped a major boost in its economy by supporting artisan brewers and booze purveyors. And its reputation for quality may now be preceding it. A panel of experts selected Gardiner-based Tuthilltown Spirits—makers of popular small-batch brands like Hudson and Half Moon—as one of 20 finalists for USA Today‘s 10BEST Readers’ Choice picks in the Favorite Craft Whiksey Distillery category. Public voting, which concludes September 12 at noon, will determine who’s the fairest blended and/or single-malt masher of them all. Currently, Tuthilltown is right there at number five, behind competitors from as far and wide as Texas and Missouri. But the Hudson Valley’s population is pretty dense, so if each of us tallies our vote for Tuthilltown, then we can all share in the intoxicating high of victory.
