july 17: warrior dash
Windham Mountain along with Red Frog Events hosts the Warrior Dash, in which contestants tackle a 3.2-mile obstacle course through the mountain terrain. Other activities at the event include axe-throwing, big air bag jumping, and sky rides. Competitors are met with a pint of beer and a wide selection of food at the finish line.
july 27: adult canoe trip in constitution marsh
The Hudson Highlands Nature Museum hosts a canoe trip through Constitution Marsh in Cold Spring. An Audubon naturalist is on hand to answer questions about the history of the marsh, the surrounding Hudson Highlands, and the local wildlife.
july 28: rip van winkle’s wacky raft race
Competitors and spectators alike will enjoy this unusual event, where adventurers create their own rafts out of unconventional items and attempt to sail from Riverfront Park in Athens to Main Street in Catskill. An awards ceremony, live entertainment, and refreshments are available at the finish.
