It’s no secret that the Hudson Valley is home to some of the best colleges in the nation. Yet that doesn’t mean it’s not nice to get a reminder every now and then.
In its 2018-2019 World University Rankings, the Center for World University Rankings included a popular Hudson Valley college in its roundup of 1,000 higher education institutions. University at Albany, SUNY placed 114 nationwide and 352 in the world.
Although it is the only Hudson Valley university to earn a spot on the list, it is not the only New York institution to do so. In fact, it joins 16 other New York universities, including University of Buffalo, Syracuse University, and Binghamton University, on the worldwide chart.
In New York, Columbia University receives top marks, placing sixth statewide and eighth globally. As for the top school in the world, that honor goes to Harvard University, which earns the gold medal spot both nationally and internationally.
The Center for World University Rankings has been reporting since 2012 on the most prestigious universities around the globe. It considers quality of education, alumni employment, research output, and citations in its research. It is headquartered in the United Arab Emirates.
