When photographer Casey Fatchett told us to check out this music-festival-themed wedding, we weren’t sure what to expect (in our experience, themes go from super fun to overdone in the blink of an eye). Luckily, Brooklynites Chiara and Andrew infused just enough of the festival vibes into their wedding to make it feel laid-back and cool – but never kitsch.
“We designed the day to feel like a music experience,” says Andrew, who brought his experience as an event planner to the table. “We branded it as a festival of art, music, love, and libation in the heart of the Hudson Valley.” Chiara designed ‘credentials’ on lanyards for each of the guests, and a vintage Volkswagen bus was parked nearby for photo ops. A local musician played ’90s covers on an acoustic guitar as guests arrived; a New Orleans-style brass band ushered people to the reception tent; and a Brooklyn cover band played while the bride and groom hit the dance floor. At the end of the night, everyone took home a compilation of the couple’s favorite songs.
