In the U.S. News & World Report list of the Best High Schools in the United States for 2018, a number of local schools ranked within the top 100. Croton-Harmon High School in Croton on Hudson earned the highest marks in the Hudson Valley, coming in at 44 on the list for best New York Schools. On both the state and the national rankings, where the school rests at 301, it earned a gold medal for its 198% graduation rate and high college readiness standard.
Other schools that earned top marks in New York include Pearl River High School in Pearl River (68) and Spackenkill High School in Poughkeepsie (99). Further downstate, a number of Westchester schools also made the grade, including Bronxville High School in Bronxville (15) and Rye High School in Rye (20).
U.S. News & World Report ranked the schools on a variety of factors, including college readiness, state exam performance, and assessment levels. In New York, 413 schools made the list, with 57 gold medalists, 167 silver medalists, and 189 bronze medalists.
