Maybe we’re biased, but we think the Hudson Valley is home to some pretty gorgeous houses. Although, “houses” feels like an admittedly weak way to describe sprawling Colonials, hidden Second Empire estates, and modern-day gilded mansions. Yet, even those are drops in the water compared to the veritable paradises that exchanged hands in 2018.

The former home of media titan Jann Wenner (co-founder and publisher of Rolling Stone, former owner of Men’s Journal), the Tivoli property sold in November for a sum just shy of $11 million. The relatively new-to-the-Valley mansion was built in 1994 and boasts five bedrooms and four bathrooms inside its 7,979-square-foot space. It sits on an impressive 62.91 acres.
195 River Rd, Rhinebeck – $6,750,000

According to the Zillow listing, the River Rd property is a single-family home dating back to 1948. The 6-bedroom, 5-bathroom affair has 5,000 square feet and sits on just over 44 acres. A peek inside what is known as The Astor Tea House reveals everything from 16th century Italian pillars to an octagonal tea room. Outdoors, a heated saltwater pool, guest barn, and treehouse add to the dreamy ambiance.
524 Mill Rd, Rhinebeck – $6,650,000

Sold in August 2018, the Rhinebeck property totals 6,018 square feet and has 20 rooms, six of which are bedrooms and six of which are bathrooms. It was built in 1770 and is zoned for residential or multipurpose/multistructural use. It was purchased by Andrew Zobler, the CEO of Sydell Group, a hotel development and management company.
119 Turtle Point Rd, Tuxedo Park – $5,950,000

Dubbed Boulder Point, or The Great Estate, the Tuxedo site is home to a breathtaking stone mansion that overlooks nearly a quarter mile of lakefront. The property, which resides in gated Tuxedo Park, was built by Bruce Price in 1920 and sits on 5.6 acres. Inside, a 40-foot dining room, wood-paneled library, and sun porch await. Additional amenities include a lakeside swimming pool and a picturesque two-bedroom boathouse. In total, the home has six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and just over 13,000 square feet.
As for who owned it, the abode was sold by writer and author Barbara Jean Swanson, the wife of Ridgewood Cos. founder Robert E. Swanson. It was purchased by Said Haidar, the founder and CIO of Haidar Capital Management, with his wife, Karen.
6 Voorhis Pt, Nyack – $5,925,762

With river views for days, the stately 5-bedroom, 3-bathroom abode in Nyack sold for just under $6 million in October 2018.
