The Hudson Valley may have already gotten a peek at poor winter weather conditions Monday morning, but the worst is unfortunately soon to come. AccuWeather is reporting that the first snowfall of the season is headed to our region with a string of bad weather, starting later this week and continuing into Thanksgiving weekend — just as you gear up for a turkey feast and related familial festivities.
A wintery mix of rain, ice, and snow is anticipated to last a few days, with temperatures expected to drop as polar air travels southward through the Midwest into the Northeast, making for a seemingly chilly holiday. And though we may have to wait for a more accurate assessment of precipitation levels, AccuWeather Meteorologist Evan Duffey notes that “we are not looking at a powerhouse event, but rather more of the nuisance variety.”
Regardless, the storm is expected to make for disruptive Thanksgiving travel conditions, with the potential for fight cancellations and delays across the nation. In terms of ground travel, AccuWeather cautions that with drenching rain in the forecast, the I-95 corridor is expected to be particularly slippery around Thanksgiving Day, so you may want to consider adjusting travel plans accordingly.
