When it comes to food education in the United States and across the globe, it’s hard to compete with the Culinary Institute of America. The Hyde Park college is a hub not just for aspiring chefs, but for hungry foodies and culinary academics as well. With so much happening on one campus, it’s almost no surprise to hear that the school ranked number one in Niche’s 2018 ranking of the Best Colleges for Culinary Arts in America.
In the report, the Hudson Valley school beat out reputable institutions like Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte (2), Culinary Institute LeNôtre (3), and Paul Smith’s College (4) to earn the highest marks.
Of course, the CIA’s strong academic programming is only one area in which it excels. The institute also ranked number one for Best College Food in New York; it’s number three in the nation. It earned a silver medal for Best College Campus in New York and the number nine spot for Best College Dorm in New York as well.
While the Culinary is a dream school for budding food professionals, it is also a beloved locale for hungry locals, who visit for fine French dining at The Bocuse Restaurant, authentic Italian at Ristorante Caterina de’ Medici, and updated Americana at American Bounty Restaurant. As always, Apple Pie Bakery Café remains a favorite pit stop for a gourmet lunch or simply a macaron or two.
