Hudson Valley’s inaugural Beer and Burger Bash rocked the waterfront at the Shadows on the Hudson marina on August 1. More than 700 attendees taste-tested sliders created by 14 Valley eateries, washing them down with beer provided by Manhattan Distributors. After noshing, and comparing, and noshing some more, our party-goers voted for the burger they liked the best. (Keep clicking through the gallery to learn which restaurant ran away with the coveted “Best of the Bash” title.) Proceeds from this late-summer event will help our charity beneficiary, the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, provide close to 6,000 meals to local residents in need.

The bridge opened to traffic in 1930 after five and a half years of construction. The project, which ended just as the Great Depression was setting in, cost almost $6 million.

Lucy Liu looked like a princess in her “fruity” Carolina Herrera gown. It put a smile on my face to see something so gorgeous on the red carpet. Everything about this look is lovely — the lack of accessories lets the dress shine, and her hair and makeup perfectly accentuate the look. Also, the gown has pockets. POCKETS. You win, Miss Liu.

In this casual-but-chic look from Elizabeth Boutique, a drab military green is softened by fun, feminine details: ruffles, rhinestones, and a light summer scarf for a punch of color.
