The Catskill’s Emerson Resort & Spa continues to expand its golf stay-and-play options with the addition of the Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston this year. The 18-hole Robert Trent Jones Sr. course joins Woodstock Golf Club and Lazy Swan Golf & Country Club in the Emerson Resort & Spa’s golf repertoire.
“We are excited to add Wiltwyck Golf Club to the golf courses where our guests can play,” said Tamara Murray, Emerson Resort & Spa Marketing & Sales Director. “It’s not every day we can add a Robert Trent Jones Sr. design to our makeup.”
Jones’ striking tree-line design in Kingston opened in 1955. Today the par-72 course plays 6,877 yards from the Championship markers with three other sets of tees to accommodate players of all levels. The Kingston facility also offers tennis and use of its clubhouse to guests staying at the Emerson Resort & Spa.
Wiltwyck became a semi-private course under new management in January of this year. The course had been a private facility. Wiltwyck also recently named Luke Burbach as its new head golf professional. He comes from Crown Colony Golf and Country Club in Fort Myers, Fla., where he was an assistant professional and lead merchandiser.
“We are so excited to partner with the Emerson Resort & Spa,” Burbach said. “The Emerson’s focus on the guest experience aligns perfectly with our focus at Wiltwyck. I know guests of the Emerson will love their experience at Wiltwyck.”
Woodstock Golf Club is a private 9-hole course with panoramic mountain views and fairway routes that navigate players along running creeks. The course is home to the 83rd Emerson Resort & Spa Woodstock Open – believed to be the longest running tournament at one site for both professionals and amateurs – to be held on Monday, July 30th.
Located in nearby Saugerties, Lazy Swan is an 18-hole course designed by golf architect Barry Jordan. Each hole presents unique character and challenges surrounded by beautiful views of the Catskill Mountains.
“We believe we have three challenging courses in the Catskills where our guests will feel extremely comfortable and satisfied,” Murray said. The Emerson Resort & Spa is a boutique hotel located in Mt. Tremper, NY, about ninety minutes from Westchester.
