Rat’s Nest Run-In

Put on your 1950s finest and head over to East Durham for the Hudson Valley’s Rat’s Nest Run-In car show. Retro rides are only part of the attraction here. Attendees can jam out to a solid schedule of bands, snack on food from visiting eateries, and shop the booths of local vendors. If you’re up for it, consider camping out nearby to make the most of the weekend.
Altamont Fair

Next on the lineup of Hudson Valley fair season is the Altamont Fair in the Capital Region. The family funfest is a must for classic rides and games, local bands, agricultural shows, and more. Bring the kids to see the circus performers and the lumberjack show. On Tuesday, catch the Monster Trucks Freestyle and Demo Derby at night. Tickets cost $17 until August 15, then bump to $19 until the end of the fair.
Newburgh Puerto Rican Festival

August 18, 12-6 p.m.
Head down to the Newburgh waterfront on Saturday for a free festival that celebrates the best of Puerto Rican culture in the Hudson Valley. The annual event, which aims to raise money for the Hudson Valley Latino High School Scholarship Fund, includes live entertainment, food and craft vendors, and activities for the little ones. Pack camping chairs and blankets to spend the whole day along the Hudson River.
Rhinebeck Annual Summer Sidewalk Sale

Plan a day trip to Rhinebeck this weekend to take advantage of the town’s annual summer sidewalk sale. Local merchants will open their doors to the community at large with shopping deals galore. The sale comes right ahead of back-to-school season, so think ahead and bring the kids to get those last minute supplies. After you shop ‘til you drop, hit a restaurant in town for a bite, then wander through the historical sites in the area for a breezy weekend on the town.
