February is the American Heart Association’s official “Go Red for Women” month, which stresses heart-health awareness for the ladies. Fashionistas everywhere are taking up the cause by donning red (check out Marist College’s Red Dress Project), and you bet our local shops are doing something special, too. Surviving Sisters Boutique in Hyde Park — founded by super-chic style guru and heart attack survivor, Kim Miller — is donating 20% of all red items purchased in the shop to the American Heart Association for the entire month of February! These proceeds benefit the 2010 Dutchess-Ulster Heart Walk (click here to check out Surviving Sisters’ page).
In addition, the boutique has marked down zillions of menswear, women’s clothing, “green,” and household items to 50-70% off. Happy shopping — and remember to show your support for heart-healthy women everywhere by wearing red!
