On April 12, the Poughkeepsie Public Library District will have not one, but two branches to its name. The new Boardman Road Branch Library will help the main branch at Adriance Memorial Library to support over 75,000 residents in the City and Town of Poughkeepsie.
The PPLD closed its Arlington Branch Library on Haight Avenue on March 14 in order to move to the bigger space on Boardman Road. With more room and better resources, the library looks to expand its youth programs and provide better access to electronic resources such as e-books and audio content.
On Sunday, April 12, the Boardman branch will host a grand opening ceremony. Grammy award-winning folk musician Tom Chapin is set to perform.
Visit the PPLD Web site at www.poklib.org for more information about the opening. While you’re there, take a look at some of the many youth and community programs that the library offers.
