June 20: Little Grasshoppers
Learn about these little leapers — things like what they eat and where they live — in the museum’s own Grasshopper Grove, then enjoy some free playtime. Recommended ages: 2-6. 10 a.m. $3, museum members free. June 27-28: Butterfly Weekend View colorful illustrations — and live butterflies. Knowledgeable guides give walking tours, and kids have the opportunity to create their own butterfly-themed crafts. Recommended ages: 5 and up. $8, $6 children, $6 members, $4 children members. June 26: Celebrate Summer
The Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum welcomes the heat with its annual festival. With both indoor and outdoor activities, the fest promotes healthy living. Performer Jay Mankita plays songs that teach kids about good diets and sustainable living from his album Eat Like a Rainbow. Kids have the opportunity to make their own healthy snacks, do arts and crafts, and participate in a bike rodeo. June 28: Story Walk Kickoff
The annual Story Walk program is back. Participants are led down a wooded trail while listening to a classic children’s story. This year’s book is Red Fox at Hickory Lane by Kathleen M. Hollenbeck. California Pizza Kitchen will be on hand with food and drinks to sample, and each child will get a free bookmark. Program runs through September 27. Recommended ages 8 and younger.
