A new Valley museum opens its doors to the public this month

A new Valley museum opens its doors to the public this month. The American Italian Museum and Cultural Center, on Albany’s Central Avenue, is dedicated to celebrating Italian-American heritage, culture, and accomplishments. Located in the former Church of Our Lady of Mercy (which was built in the 1920s with the help of Italian-American laborers), the museum offers exhibits on a variety of topics, including folk art and famous sports figures of Italian descent. The grand opening takes place on Oct. 4 at 3 p.m. Call 518-435-0591 or visit www.americanitalianmuseum.org for details.
