Update: Pete Davison and John Mulaney have added a second show on February 10 after selling out their first performance that day. The follow-up show will begin at 10 p.m. and tickets can be found here.
It’s Saturday night!
Well, sort of. In fact, when Saturday Night Live superstars Pete Davidson and John Mulaney come to Kingston this February, they’ll do so on a Sunday. Not that the day really matters, of course. It could be a Friday, a Thursday, or, dare we say it, a Monday, and the comedic duo could light up any stage with laughter.
Lucky for us, the SNL pair bring the guffaws to UPAC on February 10 for a special one-night stop on their tri-state area tour. Davidson, who you might know as one of the current stars on SNL (or as Ariana Grande’s ex-fiance), solidified his rep for stellar stand-up shows after recording his first one-hour segment for Comedy Central in 2016. In that same year, he earned a nod on the Forbes “30 Under 30” list.
Mulaney, meanwhile, worked behind the scenes as a writer for SNL from 2008 to 2012. A stand-up veteran, he currently has three specials on Netflix: New in Town, The Comeback Kid, and Kid Gorgeous at Radio City.
While the funnyman collaboration is epic in and of itself, it also stands out as a uniquely technology-free performance. Yes, you read that right. No phones, cameras, or recording devices of any sort will be allowed for use during the evening. Instead, all attendees will be required to secure their phones and smart watches inside Yondr pouches, which will lock themselves inside the theater. While guests can hold onto the pouches, they cannot access their devices until they return to a Yondr unlocking station in the theater lobby.
Overall, the pouches aim to create less distractions during the performance and help audiences to enjoy and immerse themselves in the experience of the evening.
As for tickets, seats for the first show at 7 p.m. sold out shortly after UPAC announced it. Fortunately, Davidson and Mulaney added a second performance to follow at 10 p.m. on that same day. If you’re interested in catching the laughable duo do their thing, contact the UPAC box office to inquire about tickets, scoop up seats on Ticketmaster, or check out one of pair’s other upcoming shows. The Hudson Valley event kicks off at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Sunday, February 10, making it the perfect pre-Valentine’s Day present. To learn more, visit UPAC’s website.
