Imagine cruising down the rails along the Hudson: scenic vistas sweeping by, the wind churning up tiny waves across the river’s surface, your — legs pumping?
You read that right.
Opened in late July, Revolution Rail Co. is based out of the North Creek Railroad Station Complex and offers rail-bike tours of a disused stretch of track belonging to heritage rail company Saratoga and North Creek Railway. Think of it as a combination walking tour/paddle boat ride along 19th Century rail lines.
“We’re making the beauty of the Adirondacks more accessible to people of all ages and abilities in a new and engaging way,” says Revolution Rail Co. co-founder Michael Dupee.
Highlights of the tour include crossing the Hudson River via trestle bridge, the occasional wildlife/kayaker sighting, and plenty of scenic selfie spots that are only going to get more beautiful as summer bleeds into fall.

“Much of our ride is entirely inside the forest canopy,” Dupee says. “It’s like riding through a tunnel, so when the leaves change color we expect it’s going to be a spectacular sight!”
