Did you know the Hudson Valley has its own volleyball league? Based in Newburgh, Hudson Valley Volleyball hosts tournaments and games at Memorial Park in Beacon. Anyone can enter a tournament by filling out a form on the website and paying a fee. The next tourney will be held May 16 to 17. Orienteering is an activity in which participants follow a wooded course using only paper maps and compasses. While some people navigate the trail in a slow, casual manner, others throw competition into the mix and try to beat their opponents back to the starting line. Did your ears perk up? Based in Pleasantville, Hudson Valley Orienteering holds events in Dutchess, Putnam, Orange, Rockland, and Westchester counties. Disc golf, also known as Frisbee golf, helps improve precision and accuracy while maintaining both the classiness of traditional golf and the excitement of Ultimate Frisbee. New courses have been popping up all over the Valley for several years now; one of the latest ones to debut locally is the nine-hole course at Hackett Hill Park in Hyde Park.
