Soho House Is Coming to the Hudson Valley

The members-only hotel brand announces the addition of a new location in Dutchess County.

If you’ve traveled around big cities like Chicago, London, or New York City, chances are you’ve heard about Soho House at one point or another. The international hotel company known for its emphasis on guest privacy has expanded remarkably since its London debut back in 1995. Today, the members-only hotel brand boasts 40 locations across 17 countries, with a fair number of openings planned in the near future.

Coming soon, Soho House will expand its presence to the Hudson Valley. Just in time for its 20-year anniversary in America, the brand announces a new location will soon be arriving in Dutchess County. It will reside at Grasmere House, a 250-acre property on a former working farm in Rhinebeck, in a place where the attractions and serenity of the region shine. The location is just a 15-minute drive from the Rhinecliff train station, which means it’s an easily accessible destination for anyone traveling north from New York City.

While the opening date is yet to be announced, the new location promises to balance nature with history, thanks in part to the restored 19th-century buildings anchored by a historic manor house on the property. Once open, visitors can expect elegant guestrooms a la Soho House style, as well as multiple food and drink outlets (just make sure to put your phone away before a visit; Soho House does not allow photographs without written approval). The design will pay homage to the romanticism of the region and will incorporate natural details from the Roycroft Arts and Crafts movement of the 1800s as well.

Of course, that’s just the start of the Soho House experience in Rhinebeck. During each stay, guests will be able to take advantage of cycling and hiking opportunities or kick back with the spa and wellness offerings. This new iteration of Soho House will be similar in format to the brand’s beloved Babington House in the United Kingdom. It will be a place to unwind and recharge, connect with nature and loved ones, and find serenity in the Hudson Valley.

While the addition of a Soho House in the Hudson Valley is an exciting prospect in itself, it’s far from the only initiative for the brand. This opening is part of the company’s commitment to “20 Houses by 2025 in the Americas,” a campaign which will also see Soho House openings in Portland, Charleston, Mexico City, and Sao Paulo.
