I’ve never been to a brewery before (or Newburgh!), so I wasn’t sure what to expect on my trip to the Newburgh Brewing Company. I took the trip with some of my friends on a Saturday, arriving at around noon. The brewery had large, high beam ceilings and picnic tables scattered throughout. But the first thing on my mind, as always, was food. Their menu featured several of my favorite dishes, which made it even harder to decide: the mac and cheese, or the bacon and onion grilled cheese? (In case you didn’t know, grilled cheese is an all-time favorite of mine.) I opted for the grilled cheese… and ordered a Bavarian pretzel for good measure.

With some food in my stomach, I was eager to try some of the brewery’s beer. I’m no beer connoisseur and with such an extensive menu it was difficult to choose, but I took a shot in the dark and ordered the Hop Drop DIPA and the Megabox IPA. I was overall pleased with my ambiguous choices.

The brewery had a great vibe, filled with families and friends enjoying their time as much as I was. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to venture out beyond the brewery, but I definitely will make my way back. I’d love to visit Washington’s Headquarters, enjoy a picnic in Downing Park, and appreciate the beauty of nature at Chadwick Lake. With the weather warming up, these would be a perfect start to spring!
