This year, the Hudson Valley has received praise from multiple major publications, and the awards just keep coming. From the James Beard Awards to Michelin Key Awards to Wine Spectator Awards, the region has a lot to offer in the spheres of hospitality and dining. To add to the Valley’s 2024 list of accolades, New Paltz’s Mohonk Mountain House was recently voted the #1 Resort in the Mid-Atlantic region in Condé Nast Traveler‘s annual Readers’ Choice Awards.

Now voted the #1 Resort in the Mid-Atlantic two years in a row, Mohonk Mountain House maintains its reputation as a top all-inclusive resort. Also included on Condé Nast Traveler‘s list of top 12 resorts in the Mid-Atlantic are three other Hudson Valley resorts: Troutbeck in Amenia secured the second-place title, Cedar Lakes Estate in Port Jervis came in third place, and Wildflower Farms in Gardiner secured the 11th position.
In addition to ranking highest in Condé Nast Traveler‘s annual Readers’ Choice Awards, Mohonk Mountain House has celebrated several other accomplishments and titles this year. From ranking in the top 10 in five separate categories in USA Today‘s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards to securing the title of #3 Best Resort in New York State in Travel + Leisure‘s World’s Best Awards, the 262-room mountain resort remains a must-visit destination in the Hudson Valley.

We couldn’t agree with the title more. Mohonk Mountain House is known for its surrounding beauty—the “glacial” lake and Catskill Mountains—as well as accommodations, dining, and special activities like the Junior Naturalist Program, which allows kids to go on “fossil hunts and guided nature walks.” On top of that, the resort is proximal to hiking trails in the Mohonk Preserve and popular towns like New Paltz and Woodstock, and it’s only 90 miles north of New York City, meaning city dwellers can pop upstate for a weekend of rest and relaxation at the Victorian castle resort. Mohonk Mountain House has been owned and operated by the Smiley family since 1869. For more information about booking a stay, head to the resort’s website.
