People often ask me to help them come up with creative solutions to their questions. Here’s one of my favorite ideas for a bridal shower:
Dear Wedding Guru: “I’m throwing a bridal shower for my best friend, who’s getting married next year. Jenn is in her forties, so she’s got every household item that she can use, so I need to be really creative. I want it to be a memorable event, one that my friend will find really special. What can you suggest?”

The Wedding Guru says: I’m delighted you asked, because I have a shower idea that’s been a big hit: a bridal quilt.
Buy a variety of materials, including fabric, ribbons, buttons, fabric glue, fabric paint, etc. Gather the shower guests to design their own quilt square (following the theme of love). Make sure they sign their names on their squares! When finished, collect the squares and sew them into a quilt, using the wedding colors as the bordering fabric. If you aren’t a sewer, a seamstress can connect them for you. Then, present the quilt to the couple as a gift from all who attended the shower. The gift of love will be one that will be cherished as an heirloom and will bring back fond memories for years to come.
