Delano-Hitch Stadium, home of the Newburgh Newts
For years, the Hudson Valley Renegades were the only ticket in town for mid-Valley residents hoping to catch a live baseball game at minor league prices.
Then, four seasons ago, the Boulders came along and won the support of Rockland faithful. Now come the Newburgh Newts, the third in this trifecta of local minor-league franchises and one of the East Coast Baseball League’s six teams playing in the league’s inaugural 2015 season.

The Newts are taking up residence on Washington Street’s Delano-Hitch Stadium (above), the former home of the Night Hawks. That team went bust in 1996 after just two seasons, but our hopes remain high that this time will be different. If you’re looking to catch a game, the season runs through late August (the Newts’ home opener was May 20). Here’s a look at how the Newts stack up against the more established teams.
