The collaborative retail fashion outlet explores the connections and boundaries between fashion, interior design, and modernity. Founder and designer Emily Li Mandri of MLE and founder and curator Kym Chambers of Chambers Vintage combined their passions and tastes to create the one-of-a-kind Ulster County boutique.
MLE X Chambers Vintage, which opened earlier this summer, occupies a former art gallery, which has been expertly transformed by Li Mandri and Chambers to include both of their eco-conscious brands under one roof. As both women have a dedication to sustainability, Chambers put her curation skills to work and, along with Li Mandri, consciously sourced supplies and fixtures from Facebook Marketplace to design and rework the space that now houses their shop.
The result of their hard work is an innovative retail space that brings together two industry leaders in sustainable fashion. At MLE X Chambers Vintage, visitors will find a curated selection of vintage pieces, along with handcrafted accessories. MLE’s thoughtfully designed collection of accessories – featuring everything from handbags and hair clips to jewelry and pet accessories – prioritizes ethical production and environmental responsibility, while Chambers Vintage is a renowned purveyor of high-quality vintage clothing that leans into 20th-century fashion trends.
“We are excited to join forces with MLE to bring our shared vision of eco-conscious fashion to life,” says Chambers, adding that, “by combining our expertise and resources, we aim to provide customers with a one-of-a-kind retail experience that celebrates sustainability without compromising on style.”
Above all, the Saugerties storefront seeks to promote a commitment to environmentally friendly design, timeless aesthetics, and handcrafted pieces. Li Mandri and Chambers believe there is truly something for everybody at the shop. With size inclusivity, 99-percent locally sourced vintage, and unique accessories, shoppers might find anything from archival designer from the 1960s to the feathered clutch of their dreams.
