Microblading

Giannetta Salon & Spa, Beacon

If you’re not satisfied with the skimpy brows nature gave you, microblading — a technique that gives you fuller, more defined eyebrows with semi-permanent pigments, not the dyes that are used in permanent tattoos — might be the answer. Janet Ruggiero, the esthetician/owner of Giannetta Salon & Spa — a Tuscan-style retreat with beauty services up front and a full-service spa in back — uses a hand tool with ultra-fine needles to deposit natural pigments in the skin, creating the look of individual hairs. “With microblading, the brows are so beautiful and more natural, with a dimensional look,” says Ruggiero.

The results of microblading don’t last as long as tattooing — 18 months to two years vs. 15 years for tattooing — but that’s probably a good thing, since eyebrow shapes go in and out of style. In any event, you’re in good hands at Giannetta, which won “best eyebrow wax” from Hudson Valley magazine in 2016.
