There are many breathtaking vistas in the Hudson Valley. But few are as grand as the one you can take in from Bear Mountain State Park, where the Perkins Memorial Tower — which honors George Walbridge Perkins, the first president of the Palisades Interstate Park Commission — offers a view of the river, four states, and eight mountain ranges from a height of 1,305 feet. Brian Rothstein of Hopewell Junction correctly named the subject of our contest query; this month, a shoreline sphere grabs our attention.
I was just talking to a friend about how I like to hike and love to go to lookout points. She described this tower in detail and said I should try it. Next thing I know, I open the magazine and it is looking at me. Now I have to go.

Perkins Drive is a great place for motorcycles. On a clear day you can see forever.

We were driving along the highway towards the Bear Mountain Bridge and saw a sign for a turn-off to Perkins Point. We followed the road, going up, until we reached the top. What a view! From the tower you can see for miles in every direction. We have gone back many times and taken friends.

I found that, amongst the many religious schools noted (“Private Schools,” Feb.), there were no Jewish day schools. In Rockland County, the larger day schools are the Hebrew Academy, Adolph Schreiber Hebrew Academy of Rockland (ASHAR), and Reuben Gittelman Hebrew Day School.
I can’t imagine the omission was a matter of antisemitism or discrimination. Please let me know the reason why there were no Jewish day schools included in an otherwise interesting and informative article.
