At LEGOLAND New York, there’s always something exciting around the corner, which is what makes the resort so popular among people of all ages. For many, becoming a LEGO model builder is a dream job that only few can experience, and LEGOLAND is making that dream a reality for one lucky contestant. During the resort’s Master Model Builder Competition, finalists will put their skills to the test for the ultimate role.
The Goshen destination will host its building competition on August 14, during which time finalists will compete in front of a panel of judges from LEGOLAND resorts across the country. This final round of competition follows round one, which took place at the American Dream shopping mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey on August 7.
Although LEGO model building jobs typically require a background in 3D arts, design, architecture, or engineering, model builders are also LEGO enthusiasts who know the ins and outs of the bricks. Model building is a very hands-on role, and the successful candidate will ultimately be responsible for more than 15,000 LEGO models at the park, totaling more than 30 million bricks. The builder will showcase their creativity and imagination on a full-time basis by designing, maintaining, and building incredible LEGO models for the guests of LEGOLAND New York to experience and enjoy.
After the judges determine which finalist is crowned winner, the new hire will work out of the Orange County resort’s brand-new Master Model Builder Experience, which is now open to the public. The new space offers a glimpse into the world of LEGO creation for curious guests and other building hopefuls. Located within a fully functioning model shop, the building experience invites park visitors to observe LEGO model builders performing their everyday responsibilities of restoring and maintaining the park’s models.
Not only can visitors observe in the new space, but they can take part in the fun as well thanks to immersive building initiatives that allow guests to build alongside the workers as they compete in challenges, free-build, or try to recreate a model themselves.
Open to the public, the Master Model Builder Competition at LEGOLAND New York kicks off at 11 a.m. on August 14 and ends at 5 p.m., when the newest master model builder for the resort will be offered a dream job. To add to the excitement of the day, the park is running a limited-time offer for $29 kids’ tickets with the purchase of an adult ticket, so the event is a can’t-miss.
LEGOLAND New York is located at 1 LEGOLAND Boulevard in Goshen.
