When Inness first opened in the Hudson Valley in 2021, it attracted locals and visitors alike with a rather sumptuous lineup of attractions ranging from 225 acres of bucolic land to a top-of-the-line golf course designed by King-Collins Golf, the same golf architects behind Tennessee’s Sweetens Cove. From the start, the luxury retreat by Taavo Somer, Post Company, Michael Barry, CBSK Ironstate, and Lee Pollock had plans for the addition of a spa concept, something that would allow guests to unwind even further and give locals the chance to better experience the venue for themselves. After years of detailed development, the spa at Inness is ready for its grand debut in the Hudson Valley.
Open since November, the spa at Inness is a multi-faceted space designed to cater to a variety of wellness interests. A fitness studio and yoga room are ideal for individuals who want to get moving, while treatment rooms offer dedicated spaces for facials, massages, and the like. Most recently, the completion of the bathhouse means that visitors have the opportunity to make a full experience of a day at the spa, thanks to features like a tranquility pool, steam room, sauna, and outdoor pool with a view of the expansive Hudson Valley terrain beyond.
What to Expect at the Spa
In the spirit of escape, the spa at Inness is a space for patrons to unwind and cast off their stresses of the day. From every angle, the space is designed to provide a relaxing, welcoming atmosphere. Geothermal heating and cooling – powered by six 500-foot-deep wells that also heat and cool the swimming pools and provide hot water – ensure the temperature is always just right, while locker rooms feature ample space to store items, pamper, and shower.
The bathhouse is a highlight of the 7,000-square-foot space, and an attraction in its own right. Inside, visitors can make use of the steam room, sauna, and indoor tranquility pool before popping out to the deck area to swim a lap or two – or simply lounge – in the heated outdoor pool.
For those who want to get their sweat on, the fitness studio is stocked with top-tier equipment from brands like Rogue and Technogym to ensure guests can work out in a way that meets their needs. Inness offers private and group sessions, as well as daily scheduled classes for everything from personal training and meditation to yoga, sound healing, dance therapy, and more. For individuals and private and corporate groups, the hotel also plans for curated retreats focusing on holistic wellness, fitness, longevity, and rejuvenation throughout the year.
And did we mention the treatments? The spa has five treatment rooms in which patrons can unwind with therapeutic massages, body treatments, facials, and thoughtful spa rituals. In keeping with the spa’s clean efforts, it features Biologique Recherche and Luzern products, as well as a number of special in-house products.
A Talented Team
The thought and care put into the offerings at the spa have much to do with the team behind it. Leading the charge is Sanali McFadden, the director of wellness and spa at Inness, and Nicola Gregg-Galarza, the assistant director of spa. The duo boast a wealth of industry experience among them, and McFadden even headed up the pre-opening of noted spa Aman New York in New York City.
“I’ve been here a short time but done a lot,” McFadden shares. “The structure was beautifully done by Taavo [Somer], then everything here is what we’ve created, my team and I.”
The Details
The spa at Inness is open to members and hotel guests, who receive full access to the fitness studio, locker rooms, and bathhouse. Members can also receive a 15% discount on spa services and 10% off certain retail items.
Not a member or guest but still want to check out the spa? Never fear! Inness allows locals and outside visitors to book spa services and treatments from Mondays to Thursdays during the week as well.
While the spa has only been open a short time, “the public feedback has been insanely encouraging,” McFadden enthuses, adding that the reception from guests has been lovely.
Looking ahead to 2025, she and the spa team are excited to add a cold plunge pool and outdoor barrel sauna to the lineup of offerings. In other words, guests may never want to leave.
