Hudson’s Bonfiglio & Bread Closes its Doors

The Warren Street bakery is moving to a larger location in Athens.

After a five-year stint on Warren Street, Bonfiglio & Bread’s Hudson location will soon be no longer. The bakery will close on May 8, though regulars won’t have to go long without their weekly loaves. According to a Facebook post written by owners Rachel Sanzone and Gabriele Gulielmetti (below), Bonfiglio & Bread will be moving to a larger location in Athens, with plans to open by early summer. The two noted that the decision to relocate was based on their terminating lease.

“We are sad to leave but appreciate all of the wonderful customers and friends that we have made over the last 5 years,” the owners wrote. “We understand that we are no longer around the corner for many of you but hope that you will follow us across river.”

And while the Athens location may not have the iconic “bread” sign bolstered outside, it’ll be much larger than the existing 748 Warren Street storefront with room for a LICK ice cream kisok, espresso bar, and provisions counter. Bonfiglio & Bread will also expand their menu to include more lunch and pizza options as well as a beer and wine selection. Almost equally as exciting is the expanded indoor seating to enjoy it all with family and friends.
