Hudson Valley Rumors and News in December 2014

Over the past few months, we’ve heard about two new Valley ventures in the works (and no, neither is a casino). This month’s rumors involve Legoland and Catskill Game Farm.

The unused, 175-acre Letchworth Village property in the town of Haverstraw is being considered as the future site of a new Legoland. Aimed at kids under 12, the proposed $250 million project would include a theme park, possibly followed by a hotel and water park. As of press time, the state had approved a grant to help with the building, and the developer was seeking additional financial assistance.

The site of the former Catskill Game Farm may be getting a facelift. Ben and Cathy Ballone, the current owners of the property, are seeking financial backers to turn the park into a giant campground. The couple plans to renovate the 90 concession buildings so local artists and artisans can sell their wares; they also want to host workshops to teach kids about hobbies like beekeeping and maple sugaring. And, with a nod to the location’s history, they’ll have a petting zoo, too. Visit www.theoldgamefarm.com for more info.
