Yet again, the Hudson Valley is earning high praise from an international publication. Just last month, Hudson’s Café Mutton was turning heads with glowing reviews from the New York Times and Bon Appétit. Now, the region is recognized by Architectural Digest in its roundup of “The 55 Most Beautiful Small Towns in America.”
To us, it comes as no surprise that a leading design publication would rave about our area. You’d be hard pressed to find such a rich array of hiking trails, scenic overlooks, artwork, and incredible architecture elsewhere. So, can you guess which two Hudson Valley towns made it onto the list?
Coming in at number 14 is the Dutchess County town of Rhinebeck. You may have guessed as much if you caught our October print issue in which we called the locale “a must-visit for art, shopping, and some of the best dining in the region.” Not only does Rhinebeck boast stunning homes and scenic views, but it has a lively downtown area bustling with local businesses like Samuel’s Sweet Shop—owned by actor Paul Rudd, if you somehow didn’t already know that—and the foodie destination for “elevated farm-to-table fare,” The Amsterdam.
Cold Spring also earned a spot on Architectural Digest’s list, coming in at number 54. The riverside village in Putnam County is home to spacious residences, and its Main Street is lined with such establishments as Hudson Hil’s Café, Cro’ Nest Wine Bar, and DamnAged Vintage. Cold Spring is conveniently located near many outdoor destinations like Dockside Park, Boscobel House and Gardens, Breakneck Ridge, and the Russel Wright Design Center, meaning there is plenty to explore close to home for residents of this beautiful Hudson Valley town.
