Just hours after Donald Trump accepted his nomination at the Republican National Convention, Hillary Clinton’s campaign announced that she would be revealing her vice presidential candidate in hours, not days.

And as of this evening, the Chappaqua resident has officially chosen former Virginia Governor and that state’s current U.S. Senator Tim Kaine as her running mate. Clinton considered several applicants during the vetting-process, including Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack and Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez, with Kaine—who held his gubernatorial post as Virginia swung to the left during President Obama’s 2008 campaign—emerging as the leading contender throughout the search.
The two are slated to make their first appearance together at a campaign rally in Miami on Saturday before heading to the Democratic National Convention, which begins Monday in Philadelphia.
