Ty Campbell was a precious 5-year-old boy who couldn’t wait to jump in muddy puddles once his brain cancer was cured. Unfortunately, he never got the chance to do so as the cancer he so bravely fought claimed his young life. In honor of their son, Ty’s parents launched the Muddy Puddles Project to benefit the Ty Louis Campbell Foundation for childhood cancer research.
This Saturday, August 5, the 5th annual Muddy Puddles Project Mess Fest will take place at Kiwi Country Day Camp in Carmel. “The Mess Fest is my favorite day of the year because the message is so simple, so positive, and truly inspiring,” says Cindy Campbell, Ty’s mom. “What started as a very simple wish and a crazy idea to fulfill that wish has grown into an event that is pure magic.”

This year, the magic kicks off at 11 am and lasts until 4pm. Attendees can enjoy a giant mud pit, pie toss, a special “SLOPSTACLE” course, slime time, and other fun and messy events. Some “neater” activities include swimming, meeting rescue animals, paddleboats, live music, and more. And kids can take photos with special guest Peppa Pig and her brother George!
Parents can sign up for the “Dirty Dunk,” fundraiser, a chance for participants to roll in the mud and raise money for the charity. A VIP tent will also be available for families impacted by cancer.
