Bardavon’s 150th Birthday Open House

In honor of the Bardavon’s 150th anniversary, the Poughkeepsie opera house invites the Hudson Valley community to a fun-filled celebration for all ages. As part of the city’s First Friday festivities, the theater celebrates with performances by the Julliard-trained Wholly Brass Band and complimentary hors d’oeuvres from Henry’s at the Farm. At 6 p.m. Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison and Bardavon Director Chris Silva welcome everyone in a birthday toast and cake-cutting.
Bethel Woods Volunteer Open House

To help kick off its 50th anniversary celebration, Bethel hosts an open house for anyone who is interested in volunteering at the historic site over the course of the summer. Attendees can tour the museum and sit in on presentations, then talk with staff about different opportunities and evens in which they can participate.

25th Anniversary of African American History Month

To mark the 25th anniversary celebration of African American History Month, Howland Cultural Center kicks off a February gallery showing to honor the African American artists of the Hudson Valley. On Saturday, come to the opening reception from 2-4:30 p.m., or score tickets to the Cabaret Night, which features musicians Kofi & Sankofa. Gallery hours are 1-5 p.m. from Friday to Monday.
