Founded in 1974 by the then director of choral music at Vassar College and an instrumentalist with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic, Capella Festiva remains an esteemed choir, performing Baroque, early Classical, Romantic and Modern music.

Mill Street Loft, Poughkeepsie’s non-profit multi-arts educational center, spearheads Dutchess Arts Camps. At these creative workshops — which unfold in Poughkeepsie, Beacon, Red Hook, and Millbrook — campers do everything from edit iMovies to make stained glass to dream up plays. Every Friday, parents are invited to stop by and gawk over their kiddos’ imaginative efforts.

Shakespeare is the inspiration behind this ambitious two-week intensive. From voice and physical work to prop and costume selection, attendees are immersed in stage and character development, culminating in performances of the Bard’s works — A Midsummer Night’s Dream (ages 7-9); The Winter’s Tale (ages 10-13); and Antony and Cleopatra (ages 14-17) — at the Little Globe Outdoor Stage.
