Fantasy lovers, listen up! The New York Renaissance Faire is officially back in swing in Tuxedo Park for its 41st season. Regardless of whether you’re new to the world of renaissance revelry or have been an active fairgoer for years, don’t pass up on a chance to visit the majestic Sterling Forest (ahem, Tuxedo Park) for a day of adventure.
To make the most of a trip back in time, plan to get there early and in costume. Once the gates open at 10 a.m., rabble rousers can explore the many corners of Elizabethan England. From meetings with heroic swindler Robin Hood and captivating jousting tournaments to gravity-defying acrobatics and fearsome encounters with pirates, visitors to the fair will have more than enough to do to fill the hours until the grounds close at 7 p.m. In between entertainments, attendees can take a break at the Marketplace, where over 100 artisans showcase thematic handcrafted wares. As for sustenance, hearty chicken legs, glasses of mead, and flavorful funnel cakes are just a few of the tantalizing bites available.
The Faire, which opened on August 4, runs until September 30 on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. On select themed weekends, the grounds welcome heroes and villains, time travelers, pirates, and masqueraders. Take a glimpse through the best of the Faire so far, then head over to Tuxedo to yell a hearty “Huzzah!” alongside the knights and fairies of yore.
