Elemis Biotec Facial

Emerson Resort and Spa, Mt. Tremper

In July, Emerson Resort and Spa completed a $6 million makeover with the opening of its brand new 6,200-square-foot spa. Taking its inspiration from nature (the resort is named after poet and essayist Ralph Waldo Emerson, who published a famous essay entitled Nature), the spa has roaring fireplaces, original art and a soothing palette of neutral colors.

The menu has been overhauled, too, with four super-charged facials aimed at boosting your skin’s performance on a cellular level.  They feature the UK-based Elemis Biotec line and a special machine with five classic skin care technologies: ultrasonic, microcurrent, galvanic, oxygen infusion and LED. Depending on the facial, the esthetician uses one or more of these technologies to plump, lift, calm or brighten your skin. (Just don’t expect steam and extractions.)

With hot-steamed terry mitts, cool soothing gel mask, and aromas of rose and lavender, the facial feels and smells wonderful. To get the most of their lifting and anti-aging properties, it is recommended to have a series of treatments. You might just get used to it.
