Eat, Sip, and Smile at 6 Local Events This Week

A children’s festival in Suffern, a St. Patrick’s Day party in Poughkeepsie, and more from this week’s picks for things to do in the Hudson Valley.

Adams Garden Shows

Adams Fairacre Farms
Newburgh, Poughkeepsie, March 1-10; Kingston, Wappingers Falls, March 8-17

As spring draws nearer, Adams breaks out the blooms for its 36th annual garden show. Held during different weeks at each Adams location throughout the Hudson Valley, the show spotlights the stunning design backdrops created by the company’s landscaping crews. Before you grocery shop, take a few minutes to wander through the patios and ponds that pop up in the store, then browse the spring plants and shrubs that color the greenhouses. Not sure which plants to pick up for your home? Just ask the store’s knowledgeable staff for recommendations.

Grab bites to eat and drink from local vendors, then spend the day with the family listening to Irish tunes and more. So far, The Mighty Ploughboys, Ireland the Band, and Derek Dempsey are confirmed to perform, with more to be announced as the festival day approaches. For those over 21, admission to the onsite beer garden, which will serve stouts, lagers, and IPAs from Mill House Brewing Company, is included in the ticket.
