If you visited Newburgh’s 188 Liberty Street just two weeks ago, you probably walked into an entirely different space. Scattered vintage marvels and artsy finds have since given way to contemporary clothing and chic modernity. Cream women’s clothing boutique opened this past Saturday November 5, replacing the existing three-month pop-up thrift shop, Chime In, within just a week.
The newest permanent addition to this blossoming street is the brainchild of two style-conscious Orange County moms, Amal Ishak and Manal Jamal Flournoy. Ishak, the owner of Karapouz Children’s Boutique in Chester, and Jamal Flournoy, an account executive for apparel company Brooklyn Xpress, combined their experience in the industry to build a brand that’s edgy, yet classic and fresh.
The two friends fell in love with Newburgh’s historic charm and energetic vibes after Isak visited a Liberty Street restaurant for dinner one night, and after finding the perfect spot, they decided to take the plunge. “Newburgh deserves better than the bad rap its been given,” they said. “The people who live there are ready for a fresh perspective and there are so many passionate people working hard to build new businesses, and provide opportunities. We are humbled and honored to be part of such a special community.”
So if you’re not afraid to turn heads this holiday season, we asked them to share their picks for parties and cold weather glamor. Here’s what they came up with:
