Once a commercial hub during the 1800s, due to the historic Cornwall Landing, Cornwall-on-Hudson is now primarily a residential area with a population of about 3,000 and a cute downtown district. The village is somewhat isolated, with no direct access to a highway, and no train station in town. In addition to the well-regarded public school system, the village has two private boarding schools: the Storm King School and the New York Military Academy.
