Celebrate Memorial Day at These Festive Hudson Valley Parades



Before you fire up the grill this Memorial Day, head to your local parade and swing those American flags up high in honor of our nation’s heroes. Don’t have plans just yet? Here’s a rundown of the community parades and events happening across the Valley.


Albany County

When: Monday, May 27; 9 a.m.
Where: Begins from Central Avenue between Partridge Street and the NYS Education Department building

When: Thursday, May 23; 6:30 p.m.
Where: Commences at Veteran’s Memorial Park to Columbia Street and goes north on Remsen Street to Canal Square


Dutchess County

When: Monday, May 27; 1 p.m.
Where: Heads down Main Street, ending with a ceremony at Veterans Memorial on the corner of Broad and Main Streets

Hyde Park
When: Monday, May 27; 10 a.m.
Where: Moves along Route 9 north to Main Street and down to Park Place intersection. Afterward, a ceremony at the FDR and Eleanor Roosevelt grave sites follows at 1:30 p.m.

When: Monday, May 27; 2 p.m.
Where: Wreath-laying ceremony at Schlathaus Park


Greene County

When: Monday, May 27; 1 p.m.
Where: Starts from Appleblossom Lane toward Mansion Street

When: Monday, May 27; 10 a.m.
Where: Begins from Millford Drive, off State Route 303


Orange County

When: Monday, May 27; 10:30 a.m.
Where: Begins from Wallkill Avenue by Grange Hall and ends with a short patriotic ceremony and free refreshments at Veterans Memorial Park

When: Sunday, May 26; 10 a.m.
Where: Kicks off at American Legion Hall and Gardnertown Church Parking Lot on Union Avenue

Putnam County

When: Monday, May 29; 11 a.m.
Where: Begins from the fire house on North Main Street, with a ceremony at Veterans Park to follow 


Rensselaer County

When: Monday, May 27; 10 a.m.
Where: Begins from Boltwood Ave

North Greenbush
When: Monday, May 27; 1:30 p.m.
Where: Kicks off from Town Hall and goes down Main Avenue to Route 150 to Marion Avenue to Brookside Avenue, then back to Main Avenue and Town Hall

When: Sunday, May 26; 2 p.m.
Where: Parade to begin at The Duane Stuart School between Washington and Forbes Avenues

Sand Lake
When: Monday, May 27; 10 a.m.
Where: Starts from Averill Avenue in Westfall Village. This year’s theme is the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings on the Normandy beaches.

Valley Falls
When: Thursday, May 23; 7 p.m.
Where: The Melrose, Schaghticoke, Valley Falls, and Johnsonville parade steps off at 7 p.m. in Valley Falls.


Rockland County

When: Monday, May 27; 11 a.m.
Where: Lines up at the corner of Lafayette and Orange Avenue, then moves to Soldiers Monument for the ceremony 

Stony Point
When: Monday, May 27, 2:30 p.m.
Where: Commemorate fallen soldiers at the 18th century military ceremony to honor the dead. An artillery ceremony follows at 3 p.m.
