One of the best times to explore the Catskills is coming up October 4-14, when foliage is at its peak and the Catskills Lark in the Park celebration is going strong. Throughout the week, expert guides and enthusiasts share their favorite activities, including scenic paddles on reservoirs, bicycle rides, and fishing trips — all for free.
The annual event started in 2004 as a way to celebrate the centennial of the Catskill Park, which is the larger 705,000-acre parcel that contains private lands and Catskills communities alongside the “forever wild” Catskills Forest Preserve.
The event is coordinated by the Catskill Mountain Club, the Catskill Center, and the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference. For more information, go to www.catskillslark.org.
