In an age of endless artificially scented perfumes, candles, and other toiletries, Blended Wellness aims to be different. The aromatherapy-inspired company is committed to creating natural products that support the health and wellbeing of consumers, all while giving back to the community and supporting organizations that make a difference in people’s lives. For founder and developer Nicole Lavery, her business is not just about selling goods, but rather about creating cleaner, safer products that people can feel great about bringing into their homes.
Lavery is a Hudson Valley mother of three who became fascinated with aromatherapy after researching product ingredients in the hopes of making her house and environments safer for her family. She went back to school to learn about how to create a holistic lifestyle and stumbled upon an aromatherapy program that instantly caught her interest. Now, Lavery is an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and Certified Aromatherapist who is passionate about maintaining healthy habits in her daily life, especially in the products she uses in her home.
Consequently, Blended Wellness was born in 2019, and it started as a small idea that only showcased products at pop-ups and craft fairs. Earlier this year, however, Lavery got her website up and running to provide a central area from which customers can shop. Now, the company mostly sells online from Lavery’s Hopewell Junction-based home, but products are often featured at vendor shows around the region. Lavery hopes to also get her natural products onto the shelves of local farms and shops in the future, along with operating out of her own brick and mortar location as her business grows so that she can host workshops and informative discussions centered around aromatherapy.
As for inventory, Blended Wellness makes an array of products including room sprays, lip balms, hand soaps, scented sachets, candles, body sprays, and gift sets which bundle different items. According to Lavery, her candles and sprays have been best-sellers so far, especially in the orange glove and tranquility scents. With the cold weather comes dry lips, so the company’s many lip balm scents are also becoming fan favorites.
All the products produced by Blended Wellness are handmade, from the pouring of candlewax to the labeling of jars. Not only are the candles made with pure paraffin-free soy wax, but they are also scented with phthalate-free fragrance oils. Lavery goes about decorating her products with natural ingredients as well, such as dried rose petals or chamomile rather than harsh dyes.
For the upcoming holiday season, the aromatherapy company will have seasonal scents in addition to its current scent line, which features sandalwood rose, orange clove, rosemary lemon, lavender thyme, peppermint eucalyptus, mango melon, sweet basil neroli, and twisted grapefruit. Lavery also has new product ideas in the works for the coming year, including roller ball scents to take on the go and masculine-inspired fragrances that will focus on deeper, muskier aromas rather than her typical light and floral creations.
At Blended Wellness, Nicole Lavery puts her heart into everything she creates, and her care and attention to detail are noticed by all who enjoy her products. A loyal following and honest mission have helped her company create a positive impact in Hudson Valley communities. Lavery also supports her communities by donating a portion of every sale to organizations that feed and shelter the homeless and to organizations that help cancer patients feed their families.
“When you purchase from Blended Wellness, you are not just buying a product – you are also supporting our commitment to giving back and making a difference in people’s lives,” she says.
