Once Upon a Tea Party
New Windsor
From the moment you place a phone call to book an event with Once Upon a Tea Party, you’re immersed in a storybook world. A princess recording answers the phone, complete with enchanted music. Less than six months old, the company is headed by Nicole DeVito, who will do the invitations, thank you notes, RSVPs to the Web site, decorations, favors, and dessert table. The company also provides extras like tutus and dress-up costumes, face painting, a snow-cone machine, and a princess of your choice to entertain the troops.
The party takes place in your own home or any place of your choosing — a park, a hall, or community center. Princess packages range from a 30-minute visit just for the birthday girl to a two-hour princess tea party — they’ll even come to your sleepover to tell a bedtime story. DeVito is quick to point out that her cast of princesses doesn’t consist of people dressed up in Halloween costumes — they all have backgrounds in the theater arts, and are dressed as familiar characters like Cinderella and Snow White in costumes hand-sewn by DeVito’s staff. And, yes, boys can enter the kingdom: They get a knight’s costume, complete with foam shield and sword for lively dueling. 888-492-4415; www.onceupon-a-teaparty.com
