After the final slice of pie disappears and the sleepy wave of tryptophan wears off, the anticipation of Black Friday arrives. In the Hudson Valley, the commercial craze takes hold all the way from Albany to Westchester, offering locals the chance to check off everyone on their list…and save some serious dollars while doing it.

Whether they focus on online or in-person shopping, the Hudson Valley’s storefronts pull out all the stops with Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals made to kickstart the holiday season. Albany County

The Colonie Center offers serious shopping deals, like 50 percent off at J.Crew and up to 60 percent off at Express. Extended hours allow bargain hunters to cross off every item on their holiday list. With discounts at H&M, The Body Shop, Macy’s, and more, you won’t want to miss Black Friday at The Colonie.

Columbia County

For #shoplocal supporters, Basilica Hudson hosts its annual Basilica Farm and Flea Holiday Market all weekend long. The local maker event is a treasure trove for one-of-a-kind knickknacks in one place. Browse the full list of vendors to create a shopping game plan in advance and scout out your picks early. Shop the wares of over 50 vendors at this market. Large doorways remain open for constant air flow, so bundle up for the semi-outdoor experience. The 1880s factory setting hosts an array of farmers, makers, and collectors as an alternative to traditional Black Friday shopping. Admission costs $5.

Darkside Records hosts Record Store Day Black Friday with free coffee in the morning, followed by deals, rare records, and ice cream all day. Over 100 rare releases will hit the shelves. The fest leads into the Hudson Valley’s Small Business Saturday, which comes with its own set of specials.

Locust Grove hosts a 40-vendor artisan market in Poughkeepsie that’s free to enter and open through Sunday. The historic setting sets up a lovely collection of fine artistic works and designer-quality goods. However, there’s one gift you can’t get anywhere else. On Saturday, special guest Cathy Schmitznicknamed “The Poet Is In”writes unique, personalized poems for loved ones, dear friends, or that special someone.

Head to the Poughkeepsie Galleria starting at 7 a.m. to score deals on electronics at Best Buy, sales on shoes at DSW, and more.

Woodbury Common may just be the most popular spot in the Hudson Valley on Black Friday, and for good reason. After all, where else can you find dozens upon dozens of designer retailers stocked to the brim with discounts galore in one place? Putnam County

Pop into the Garrison Art Center over Black Friday weekend to shop the Holiday Pottery Show and Sale. The event runs until Monday and is an ideal place to pick up handcrafted works made by more than 30 regional artisans.

Troy Night Out, which occurs on the last Friday of every month, gets extra special around the holiday season. Mask up and stroll through Troy’s downtown to shop unique deals. Restaurants and cafes will have pop-ups to keep you fueled with warm drinks and snacks. Feel free to follow the action on Facebook and take advantage of the sales online.

Rockland County

Palisades Center goes all out with its post-Thanksgiving programming this year. To allow shoppers to have a safe experience, employees use electrostatic sprayers to disinfect surfaces in the same way the top hospitals do. Scout out the best deals early online and opt for curbside pickup so you never have to leave your car.

Ulster County

Craving an escape? Score a 25-percent discount for a two-night stay at Mohonk Mountain House on select weekends from mid-December to March 2022. For a 40-percent discount, take a look at midweek trips during that time instead.
