After the final slice of pie disappears and the sleepy wave of tryptophan wears off, the anticipation of Black Friday arrives. In the Hudson Valley, the commercial craze that normally takes hold all the way from Albany to Westchester is shaping up to look a little different this year. Many shops and outlets are limiting capacity and promoting their online stores to promote socially distant sales. If you do plan to venture out, remember to don your mask and stay six feet apart from other shoppers.

Whether they focus on online or in-person shopping, the Hudson Valley’s storefronts pull out all the stops with Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals made to kickstart the holiday season. So what are you waiting for? Albany County

Darkside Records hosts Record Store Day Black Friday with free coffee from The Poughkeepsie Grind in the morning, followed by giveaways and deals all day. The fest leads into the Hudson Valley’s Small Business Saturday, which comes with its own set of specials.

Locust Grove hosts a 40-vendor artisan market in Poughkeepsie that’s free to enter and open through Sunday. The number of shoppers will be limited upon entry to ensure everyone has enough time to shop safely.

SUNY Dutchess hosts its annual holiday craft fair online this year. The fully virtual event is free to join and browse tons of one-of-a-kind gifts. There will also be a live Q & A for people that want to get a closer look at the work of Hudson Valley artisans.
